Southcoast Yoga: An Example of Web Marketing
Pam, the founder of Southcoast Yoga, previously used Wordpress to host her company blog. She solicited me to design a more formal platform to display important information about upcoming classes and her qualifications.
Planning
We first discussed the process of purchasing a domain name and hosting package for Southcoast Yoga. After we researched various hosting packages together, we chose one that suited her needs both financially and technologically.
I then asked Pam to think about her goals for the website, and also what types of content she wanted to feature. Once she and I came up with a site plan I worked on writing the content for each section of the website.
Creating
I installed Drupal, an open source content management platform, on Pam's server, and created a database for Drupal using MySQL. I then found a theme template that worked with Pam's goals and vision, and then edited the CSS and HTML to reflect her brand. I integrated Pam's social media accounts and provided a way for users to share information about her website. I also created a Google Analytics account for Pam, and showed her how she could use the information to learn about potential and current clients.
Since Pam stressed that she wanted full control over the content on her website, I lastly installed a WYSIWYG feature to eliminate her need to code in HTML.
Launching
After the launch of southcoastyoga.net, Pam saw the number of participants in her classes increase. With more visibility on the web, she can now market more efficiently. I will continue to work with her to update and add to southcoastyoga.net using SEO techniques to ensure that users will discover it easily on search engines.
